Locker Room Monitor Requirements

Your role is crucial in upholding a safe and positive environment for all participants, and we thank you for your dedication to this important responsibility.

LOCKER ROOM MONITOR RESPONSIBILITIES


As a Locker Room Monitor your role is to ensure the safety and well-being of our athletes by monitoring the locker rooms during all team events.

Your responsibilities include:

  1. Monitoring the Locker Room: Supervising the locker room during practices, games, and other team events to prevent, reduce, and eliminate adverse and harmful behavior. Your presence helps uphold the standards of the USA Hockey SafeSport Program and ensures the well-being of all participants.
  2. Reporting Adverse Behavior: Promptly reporting any adverse behavior or events observed in the locker room to the Safe Sport Director or a Board Member. This may include instances of physical abuse, emotional abuse, bullying, threats, harassment, sexual harassment, hazing, or unauthorized use of electronic devices.
  3. Providing Supervision: Offering supervision to help watch for, prevent, and/or report harmful behavior as outlined in the USA Hockey SafeSport Program guidelines. This includes ensuring that players adhere to codes of conduct and guidelines established by the organization.
  4. Locking and Monitoring Access: Securing the locker room during practices and games by locking the door when necessary. As the keeper of the key for your team's locker room, you are responsible for managing access and ensuring that only authorized individuals enter the facility.


USA HOCKEY REQUIREMENTS


All Locker Room Monitors need to complete the following registrations and certifications:

USA Hockey Registration: Annual registration that must be completed each season starting on April 1. You will receive an electronic copy of your registration from USA Hockey and must add the USAH number to your Crossbar account each season.


SafeSport CertificationThe Safe Sport Training and Refresher Training are each valid for twelve (12) monthsSafesport is a yearly requirement and consists of a core course followed by three refresher courses. Every fourth year one must take the core course over again.



Background Screen: USA Hockey has instituted a national background screening program. The screening is required every two seasons. Background screening is done through NCSI and takes an average of 10 - 14 business days to be completed.
